The LHDN MyInvois system is Malaysia's national e-Invoice infrastructure. Businesses within scope — including law firms with annual revenue of RM3 million and above — must have their invoices validated through MyInvois (businesses below RM3 million are exempt, per HASiL's timeline updated 30 August 2026). This guide explains what MyInvois is, how to register, and how a legal billing system connects to it.
What Is MyInvois?
MyInvois is the electronic invoicing portal operated by LHDN (Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri). It serves as a central validation layer between the seller (your law firm) and the buyer (your client). Every e-Invoice must be submitted to MyInvois, validated, and stamped by LHDN before it is considered a compliant tax document.
The validated e-Invoice contains a QR code that your client can scan to verify its authenticity directly with LHDN. This replaces the traditional paper or PDF invoice for tax purposes.
How e-Invoice Submission Works
There are two ways to submit e-Invoices to LHDN:
1. MyInvois Portal (Manual)
You log in to the MyInvois portal and enter invoice details manually. This is practical for firms that issue only a handful of invoices per month, but quickly becomes unmanageable as volume grows.
2. API Integration (Automated)
Your billing system connects to the MyInvois API and submits invoices automatically. This is the correct approach for law firms — you bill inside LexBill exactly as you do today, and the system handles the MyInvois submission in the background.
LexBill uses API integration — you do not need to log in to the MyInvois portal for every invoice. Submission happens automatically when you generate an invoice in LexBill.
How to Register on MyInvois
What You Need
- Your firm's Tax Identification Number (TIN) — available from your existing LHDN account
- SSM registration details (company registration number)
- Authorised signatory details (name, NRIC, position)

- Your firm's MSIC code (law firms: 69100)
Registration Steps
- Visit myinvois.hasil.gov.my
- Log in with your existing MyTax / LHDN portal credentials
- Complete the e-Invoice registration form with your firm details
- Submit and wait for LHDN approval (typically 3–7 business days)
- Once approved, you receive API credentials to connect your billing system
Key Terms You Will Encounter
| Term | What It Means |
|---|---|
| TIN | Tax Identification Number — your firm's LHDN taxpayer ID |
| MSIC Code | Malaysian Standard Industrial Classification — 69100 for legal activities |
| e-Invoice UUID | Unique reference assigned by LHDN when your invoice is validated |
| QR Code | Stamped on every validated e-Invoice — clients scan it to verify with LHDN |
| Consolidated Invoice | A batch submission covering multiple transactions for a period (1st–7th of month) |
| Credit Note / Refund Note | Required when cancelling an invoice more than 72 hours after issuance |
The 72-Hour Cancellation Rule
Once an invoice has been submitted to LHDN and validated, you have a 72-hour window to cancel it if an error is found. After 72 hours, you cannot cancel — you must issue a credit note or refund note instead. LexBill enforces this rule and guides you through the correct process.
How LexBill Connects to MyInvois
When you subscribe to LexBill, our onboarding team:
- Assists you with MyInvois portal registration if not already done
- Configures your API credentials in LexBill
- Tests the connection with a sample invoice submission
- Confirms your firm is live and compliant
From that point, the MyInvois submission happens automatically whenever you generate an invoice in LexBill. You do not need to interact with the MyInvois portal again for routine billing.
